Frankie Boyle Statement (Lucy)

Statement from Channel Four:

Frankie Boyle is a comedian who makes all kind of jokes about people and everyone finds him funny. Frankie loves pushing his boundaries; he likes to explore new areas and see how they work for him and how the crowed react to it.

Frankie said a joke about Harvey Price (Kate Price a.k.a Jordan’s disabled son) in which he said “I have a feeling that Jordan married a cage fighter because she needed someone strong enough to stop Harvey from f**king her”. The joke got negative attention from viewers and some of them even complained to Ofcom, The regulators of Channel 4 are aware of what Frankie said but they have taken into account the way in which Katie exposes her children to the media which doesn’t make her any better of a person.

The joke may have not of been appropriate for his audience and people watching at home which have made several complaints including Jordan herself. I’m writing this statement on Frankie’s behalf for any offence caused but he is also allowed to say what he wants to say because he is entitled to the freedom of speech. Also, equality is something we have to keep in mind and have to ask our selves what makes Harvey so special that no joke can be made about him? If we are all equal then Mr.Boyle has done no wrong.

Letter to the BBC (Lucy)

To whom this may concern,
I'm writing to you in reference to the recent episode of News Night featuring David Starkey.

In this episode he is stereotypical, rude and extremely raciest. I was very offended by what he said and I'm sure many others were too!
This was said on national television where a large number of people in the UK were viewing it, He says the black people are to blame for the commencing of the riots that occurred.

During the interview his arguments and comments were very racist which I felt was disgracefully for a man of his intellect,To blame Black Culture so freely and proudly and then have the cheek to say that "The whites have become black" when Dreda Say Mitchell brought up the argument of the White Public were also involved in the riotsThis suggest that black culture has negative influence on the white community.

The head of the Labour party and many other politicians have said that it is "racist" and has broken the race relations act 2000: all forms of racism, direct or indirect, physical or verbal abuse towards other races is against the law.

I feel that the reputation of News Night has been brought down for letting this happen and not doing anything about it and that David Starkey should be severely dealt with.
I hope that you understand the reasons for my complaint and you deal with it.

I would also like to mention that the BBC guide lines have been broken by showing this:
"1.1
Audiences are at the heart of everything we do.
We are committed to giving them high-quality, original and at times challenging output.  Creativity is the lifeblood of our organisation.
Equally, we must give our audiences content made to the highest editorial and ethical standards.  Their trust depends on it.
We must therefore balance our presumption of freedom of expression with our responsibilities, for example to respect privacy, to be fair, to avoid unjustifiable offence and to provide appropriate protection for our audiences from harm."
Thank you, Mahan.

Survey Evaluation (Lucy)

After looking at the results of the survey I can see that most people were aware of what happened to the News of the World and what they did. Most people were unhappy about what they did and wouldn't have liked it happening to them and there were few that didn't mind or were unaware of it or didn't know what happened. In general most people would agree that they didn't do a good thing and wouldn't like it happening to them.

However, most people weren't that aware of the details of story and it strikes me as an example where the media has blown up the importance of the story. People who aren't involved in either journalism or politics aren't that bothered by the phone hacking scandal. Young people in particular had very little interest in it despite the massive amount of coverage in newspapers and on TV.

Claymation Evalutation

Clay animation or claymation is one of many forms of stop motion animation. Each animated piece, either character or background is usually made of Plasticine clay.
For our animation we used Morph as inspiration and created our own unique characters and used 'iStopMotion' to take single frames of the clay figures.

We started off by getting a pice of plasticine and rolling it into a ball and then stretched it out to form a character then kept playing around with it till we were happy with it then added details to the figure then after we had made our story and created a story board we began to film using the stop motion program on the Mac to film the story frame by frame to form the final out come.

I was happy with the final out come but feel that it could have been better if we had spent more time on it and had made it a bit longer time but overall it came out good and got the story across and showed that we have learnt the basic skills for claymation and stop motion animation.

Morph is a animated plasticine stop-motion character who appeared with Tony Hart in 1977 on several of his UK TV programmes:Take Hart and HartbeatMorph was made for the BBC by Aardman Animations who later became famous for Wallace and Gromit. I think what makes Morph so significant to the success of Aardman is the fact that he's is simple but very cleverly created and made to fit into the storys which show the potential of claymation which opened more doors for them to go on and do bigger things like 'Chicken Run' and other successful Clay animated movies.

One of the strengths of claymation is that anyone can do it and theres no right way of making a character so its simple and can be done with just clay and a camera so not much equipment is needed, Another strength is that you can create almost anything basically your imagination is what limits you, Its a very simple proses so it can be done anywhere and unlike cut-out animation it doesn't have lots of bits of paper because its just clay you don't really have to worry about losing a pice or two.

The limitations of claymation are that it can be very time consuming to craft a very detailed character and keep him the same in each frame and you also might need to create clothes for it and other stuff, Another limitation is that it can get frustrating and fiddle at times which can be off putting for most also getting it into the position that you want can result in bits falling off or simply not staying where you want it to stay.

Claymation in comparison to other forms of animation I think is much better because you can do a lot more and even use real life objects in your work and it had very small limiting factors and it doesn't need many things to start so it can be done anywhere by anyone unlike cutout which needs lots of bits and bobs and hours of cutting magazines, sticking them into place, keeping all the bits together so they don't get lost and still it provides a very wide range of things that can be done which cant be done with a Zeetorpe. Although its hard to master and can be frustrating at times but I think its the best form of animation because its simple and easy and you can get much better results once you mastered it.
